Head of the Dart SUP Challenge

Saturday’s pre-HOTD warm up was a 30 mile cycle to Tavistock and back – not entirely what I had in mind, but a gorgeous day.

Sunday was better suited to windsurfing probably, gusting 35mph, but the event was great nevertheless.  Instead of Dartmouth to Totnes, Plan B was invoked, so it was Totnes – Duncannon – Totnes.  About 7.5 miles, but a bit less full on because the river was narrower and more sheltered.

I finished in 2:00:45, powered mostly by jelly babies.

SUP up the Plym

The calmest conditions for SUP’ing, flat water, not much wind and a rising tide.  Hurrah!  But it’s still a river, which means hard work going upstream.  The reward was well worth it though; I was basically a giant Pooh stick all the way back to the beach.

Route up riverI paddled for 50 minutes from the beach at the bottom to the building at top left.  It took about 35 minutes to just drift back!

Santa Kayak 2017

The annual Santa Kayak took place today at Mount Batten in aid of three charities; St Luke’s Hospice, Shekinah and the Mount Batten Centre Charity Trust.   A red and white clad crowd, joined by some furry friends.
